Due to this individual's line of work his real name will remain hidden. Let call him Rick. Rick's job involves long and unpredictable hours. In a very stressful & sedentary environment, Rick struggled to fit in proper nutrition & training in his already busy schedule.
When he first came in, he weighed 91.5kgs with 14.9 kgs of fat and 76.6 kgs of lean mass. He had one goal in mind, to get in shape and to win his upcoming fight. We sat together, went through his plan and we were set to reach his goal weight in 12 weeks. After 8 weeks, we managed to shred a whopping 4.8kgs of fat while maintaining all of his lean mass.
We had now reached his required weight for his fight 6 weeks in advance, so we kept going. This gave us an advantage as we can focus purely on improving his performance. We increased his glycogen stores (the body's main fuel source) while minimising its breakdown to ensure that he could hit hard and that he could hit hard every single round. He felt stronger, lighter, quicker and at that point, he was ready to take on his opponent.
By the time Rick was 4 weeks out from his fight night, his weight had dropped to 85 kgs (1 kg below the goal) and we decided to take it up a notch. We had implemented a series of carbohydrate loading protocols (he was joyful at the amount of food he got to eat) that had drastically improved his strength, performance and training. When we re-measured his body composition he had put on 1.3 kgs of lean mass while dropping another 1.1kgs of fat mass over 1 week. His movements were sharper, his blows were more accurate and he hit a lot harder.
As his fight night was getting closer, we re-tested various loading and hydration protocols so that he would be 110% confident on the night. We also explored various sports supplements that have been scientifically researched and proven to improve his endurance, co-ordination and power.
