This is a savoury mince dish found commonly in Chinese households. This recipe is taken from “TheMeatManChannel” from youtube. Be sure to check out how I’ve modified the recipe so you can eat it too.
500g minced beef
½ yellow onion (chopped)
¼ cup green peas
2 stalks spring onions (chopped)
2 tbsp light soya sauce
1 tsp dark soya sauce
2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tsp cornstarch
2 tbsp oil
⅛ tsp pepper
Salt to taste
2 tbsp water
4 servings of steaming white rice
Marinate 500g minced beef with 2 tbsp light soya sauce, 1 tsp dark soya sauce, 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine, 1 tsp sesame oil, 2 tbsp oyster sauce, 2 tsp cornstarch and ⅛ tsp pepper for 30 minutes.
Heat 2 tbsp oil.
Stir fry chopped onions until translucent.
Add in the marinated minced beef. Stir fry until the minced beef is almost done.
Season with salt to taste.
Glaze with 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine.
Mix in ¼ cup of green peas and 2 tbsp water, continues to cook until both meat and peas are cooked.
Spoon minced beef over steaming rice.
Crack an egg over it.
Sprinkle with chopped spring onions.
The main ingredients you need to watch out for is the rice, beef mince, peas, egg and sesame oil.
Use oil spray to coat the pan when cooking. Feel free to tweak the other ingredients to taste.
